Burning Issues
According to a study directed by congress global warming is a reality, not a theory. (Someone is going to have to come up with a name for the new lake located at the North Pole, as it looks like it's here to stay.) Now that we are past the acceptance/denial issue, the predictions being made are grim. Salmon, sugar maples, barrier islands, and traditional farming. Kiss them all goodbye. Cities will swelter in heat waves, and droughts will occur in the Midwest. The report concludes that "based on the Best Available Information (BAI), most Americans will experience significant impacts" from the Earth's warming, including more forest fires.

Too Much Smokey Bear?
After years of so called "forest management", the West is ablaze like never before. Most of the country heard about the May fires in New Mexico that were intentionally setHigher Temperatures, Forest Fires and Lakes at the North Pole by the Park Service. Turns out, the controlled burn wasn't. Over 200 houses and parts of Los Alamos National Lab went up in flames. And that was just the beginning of what is probably the country's worst fire season on record. Montana fires in July and August were worse, and are still burning as we go to press with this newsletter. Idaho, Texas, California, and almost every other western state has burned or is currently burning. Finger pointing and name calling are sure to follow.

Politically Incorrect's Bill Mahr is one of a very few TV personalities who will even talk about environmental issues. True to the show's name, he says, "The Problem is the people who make money cutting down trees and making oil … don't care if we die, business is good." He said it, not us.
